I can't remember where I got the alginate from or what it cost (this was maybe 7 years ago), but it wasn't expensive. Plaster of paris can be bought real cheap from an art supply store. I also got some flesh-colored paint to finish it off. I have been thinking of doing it again. I have seen these casting kits at art stores where they show you can cast your hands or whatever (like your penis) and it's totally self-contained. I think they run about $20, which is pretty reasonable.
