Closing Down Sale
By Sazzoray

Gerald had always wanted a pet and now was his chance. He only had a small room in the frat house so something like a dog was out of the question. He decided upon something small that he could keep in a cage, something the size of a mouse would be ideal. It was on this day that he had read about a notice in the newspaper. PET’S FOR PEOPLE, MASSIVE SALE. ANYTHING YOU SEE IN THE STORE WILL BE REDUCED BY 90%. THIS OFFER LAST ONE DAY ONLY. Gerald decided to pay the shop a visit and see if there was anything that took his fancy. As he entered the shop he noted that most of the animals had already been sold. He was most clearly disappointed to find all that was left were some rather sad looking fish. Fish was the one pet he did not want. The look of disillusionment was very clear on his face. The owner walked over to him to see if he could be of any help. When Gerald pointed out that he had only wanted something small to keep in his room excluding fish the man looked around and thought.
“Are you sure there is nothing else here that takes your fancy?” He asks.
Laughing slightly trying to make a joke he pointed towards one of the young male assistants. He must have been maybe 20 at the most and in very good shape. “Now if he as in the sale I wouldn’t mind taking him home as a pet.” On finishing the sentence he knew has stupid he sounded.
The owner smiled back. “ Ah Eric, you can have him with pleasure, he is just a waste of space. Never wants to do any work.” The owner laughs at his little joke and then looks thoughtful. “ What did the advert say young man, anything in the store would be reduced? If you can just hang on for a few moments I’ll see what I can do.” With that he gave a wink to Gerald and took the assistant into the back room. There was a bright flash came room under the door. The owner walked out, but the assistant was no where to be seen. Gerald looked puzzled. The owner came back over to Gerald carrying a small box. “Is this the kind of thing you had imagined?” He opened the small box and to Gerald’s surprise was the assistant, tiny and naked. He was yelling abuse up at both men.
“But how?” Asks Gerald with a smile on his face.
“Hey the customer is always right, you wanted Eric. All I did was reduce him by 90% like the advert said. Now you’ll need a cage to go with your new pet.” The owner smiled. Gerald picked out a nice roomy cage for his new pet. As he was paying at the counter, the owner told him. “Just remember no returns on sale items. You might just have to try and get him trained. He never learned very well here, but maybe you’ll do better.” Gerald just looked at the tiny box and then the owner. As Gerald left the store the owner yelled after him. “Take care of your new pet, he’s one of a kind.” He gave Gerald a wink.
Under his breath Gerald said to himself? “I will take great care of you tiny Eric; you are the most perfect pet.”

The end.
