Rinsing out rectum in the shower

Making your own...

When I first started rinsing out I had never seen any of the smaller anal douches or professional shower attachments, I only found the larger douche bag kits (shown below). Filling the bag each time was a pain, so I looked for a way to connect it to my hand held shower head hose.

I use the nozzle and a hose from a douching/enema kit that I bought at a drug store for $10. I simply removed my removable shower head from the hose it connects to and screwed on the plug that normally goes into the douche bag. While the thread from the douche kit plug isn't even close to that of the shower hose, if you force it a bit, it will make a new threat in the plastic. It's not perfect, but it functions quite nicely.

Shower Douche Kit : (purchased)

You can buy the kit ($60) in many sex toy stores. The kit is basically a water diverter that connects before the shower head, with a tube and a nozzle for inserting. Often made of stainless steel, thus the cost.

This is VERY handy because it stays perminently attached to your shower, you just use it when you need it with nothing to put away.

The thing I don't like about the main one produced is that the thin nozzle that comes with it is too short (you can't go up the colon with it). The longer nozzle (shown at right) is quite thick, so it takes work if you want to use it to do the flow method (explained below). Beyond that, I am every happy with the product.

Rinsing out (flow method)

This is the method I have found to be the best.

With the shower off I turn the water on in the tub. I adjust the temperature of the water to make it luke warm, and flowing out kinda slowly. I put a little bit of lube on the end of the nozzle and rub it around the nozzle. With one hand I insert it (gently) up into my rectum and relax.

The trick here is then to put sideways pressure on the nozzle holding the anus open so that the water runs right out (as shown right). The water then just flows into my rectum, and flows right back out again along with any fecal material.

While holding the nozzle in place with one hand, I engage the water to go to the shower with the other hand. So the water starts flowing into my rectum

I relax and allow the water to flow in and right back out again. It's a neat feeling. If you don't relax, your anus will close and the water won't flow back out again, causing you to start to fill with water. (see the "fill method" below)

At this point I will also gently push the nozzle up past the rectal sling into the colon and irrigate this upper part as well. This takes a bit more practice to master it.

After 10 seconds or so I remove the nozzle (with it still running.) I then use the hose to rinse any fecal matter down the drain
* and turn off the water. Any access water that is inside the rectum seems to get absorbed into the body within a couple minutes.

* The 'hair filter' on the drain should be removed before doing this so any small fecal matter can be flushed down the drain. Larger fecal matter may need to be picked up and put in the toilet.

Know that rinsing out the anus like this can sometime activate that "I gotta take a dump" feeling. Sometimes it's real and you have woken up your desire to excrete, and other times it's a false feeling that goes away quickly. To tell whether it's real or not, I just wait 30 second or so. If it's a false feeling, it simply fades away. If you DO have to take a dump, the feeling won't go away. And I suggest you take a dump and repeat the cleaning. This happens for me rarely, but it does occur.

Rinsing out (fill & dump method)

The other method is more like how you would use a douche bottle. You insert the shower nozzle to fill water into the rectum/colon, remove the nozzle, then either go sit on the toilet, or just push the water out into the shower/tub.

While I don't find this method to be as good as the flow method described above, it is a bit simpler to master.

The trick here is to know HOW MUCH WATER to allow in. With the regular douches the water is pre-measured. Here you have to gauge it based on the flow rate or on how you feel. When you get too much water in you will feel an uncomfortable pressure in your abdomen. By this time you generally have already pushed water up into your colon a ways.

If I use this method I take in a small amount, push it out, take in a small amount, push it out, and keep repeating this for a bit till I'm sure that I'm clean. For me this is a less precise way because I am not sure how far up the water is going into my colon. If I take in too much, it get's trapped, if I take in too little, I don't get things in in the rectal valve area.

But I must say that there is something fun about pushing the water back out with this method!
